Sonny has over 20 years of experience in the NGO, UN, and private sectors in the Asia-Pacific and Greater Mekong Sub-region.

About Sonny

He is a senior-level specialist in global health/emergency communications and advocacy, project management, and high-level management.

He has gained valuable experience serving in UN peacekeeping missions in East Timor and Ethiopia and has also contributed to The World Health Organization for 5 years, working on health emergencies.

He also worked in humanitarian emergencies in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal for various international organizations providing essential health services and temporary shelter. In 1996, the Portuguese government recognized his outstanding contribution to human rights work in the region by awarding him the Order of Merit.

Sonny has a Masters in Science (Humanitarian Studies) from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK, where he graduated with distinction. Despite the legacy he has created for him self though his honorable actions in his career he felt a need to go back towards his Malaysian roots.

His family owns a farm and has been doing research and development towards solving food insecurity though out the world. This is how he started to support and provide his expertise towards the first ever zero energy vertical farming system of Bonlai
